Re: Transmission problem maybe computer?

Theres a post missing from pg 1. Anyone remember what it said?

Didnt it say he used synthetic fluid? Maybe, maybe not!! I vote that you got ripped off on there being a new trans inthere. A plugged trans filter, low fluid, shot pump ect.... If the fluid level is at the right level an its nice an red!! You will need to start to remove your trans an have it gone through!! The ECM does NOT controle the trans on a 700r, if your tourque converter is draining that sounds like the TC is severly over heated an pushing the fluid out of it. Reguardless of anything i would begin to remove the trans an become really good friends with a trans shop!!

No. It pointed towards an issue related to fluid level. It was post #2 or 3.

Re: Transmission problem maybe computer?

Seems like no matter what we say, fluid level, TV adjustment, bad pump, bad TC he just keeps going back to it being an electronic or ECM issue. That's not even possible... Sucks when so many people put in a legit effort to help and its like we're all pissing into the wind.

No forward or reverse gears = no pump pressure. Wether that be low fluid levels or bad pump/bad TC buts not a "computer problem". My money is on low fluid or the trans sat dry for a while and something hung up inside restricting or limiting flow

Re: Transmission problem maybe computer?

Yes boosted suv i understand the 700r4 is not elect controlled im guessing its the tourqe converter

How would resetting the ECM affect this?

Re: Transmission problem maybe computer?

I was just reading threw all of this and was thinking filter fell out. Had a trans sit pretty dry for a few years and the orings around the filter shrunk and the filter dropped down. The pan held it on most of the way but it was scavaging. Caused a no drive when fluid got hot.

Re: Transmission problem maybe computer?

I thought about a clogged filter that drops all the crap back into the pan during the time the vehicle is shut off to change the fuse. I am really enjoying reading all the adventures on this truck. This is how you learn what SyTy is all about. How many people have told a newb how it is and they just can't grasp that things can be so extreme. After all, it's just a s series with a v6... Glad to hear the prob was found and things will move forward (no pun intended). Can you imagine bringing it to a shop and they recommend an overhaul. When going thru one of these trucks front to rear, top to bottom, you just never know what you will run into besides an empty wallet.

Re: Transmission problem maybe computer?

Ya defitnately a crazy ride from getting no fuel pressure overnight to no gears in a matter of minutes these trucks are defitnatly crazy lol. But hey i took my truck for a drive. And hearing the turbo spool is all worth it:) :) Thanks to everyone for your help really aprecciated it.. i will be posting pics of the oil and rust caked pan lol it was so filthhy you couldnt even see the magnet in there and im going to post a video of my truck boosting

Re: Transmission problem maybe computer?

Just one thing to keep in the back of your mind. All that "stuff" came from somewhere (hint; it not from outside the trans) so the future of this trans is an unknown. Be easy on it until you get some enjoyment out of the truck. Be a boyscout.

Re: Transmission problem maybe computer?

Some black is normal, alot isn't. That is quite abit. It is the clutch material being worn off from normal and excessive use and abuse. The look of that fluid would concern me as well. You might want to start saving your extra $ for a rebuild and be nice to it so it will hold together.....
