Im having a problem witth my trans. I put it in gear and its fine for a minute the acts like its in neutral and when i reset the computer it works again but does the same thing

Be sure the fluid is at the correct "full hot" reading. Transmission issues on these are generally caused by TV cable adjustment (or lack thereof). I hope the trans was filled (convertor too) prior to starting the truck when it was installed.

It sounds like your low on trans fluid. Check it with the engine and the trans hot, make sure the motor is idling in park.
Also, just randomly thinking.
there is a transmission cable that attaches to the Front of the throttle body. I know that if it is too tight it will cause it to shift harder going from 1st to 2nd. Make sure that it is connected. If it is connected, pull on the wire to make sure that it is not broken inside the cable housing.
I have never had one brake. But it is worth a shot.

I would check the TV cable adjustment and triple check the fluid level with the truck running after putting it in gear and reverse.

It's also worth making sure the bracket that holds your gear selector cable in place is secure.
It's just on the driver side of the pan and sometimes comes loose. Check it's firmly installed. 30 second check.

ok heres how i know its something electronic.. ok heres what it does if i cold start the truck and put it in gear its fine to drive around the block a few times, i put it in gear r,od,d, for a lilttle bit to try to use all the gears and all is perfect transmission shifts nice right on time i can even do a 180 tail whip because im 2 wheel drive right now, so i can drive it till it gets hot then the transmission starts acting up like it took a shit so i can go anywhere no gears nothing(i had slipping transmissions before and i know that all the gears just dont go out, so its not the clutches) but when im stuck i just take out the ecm fuses put them back in and instantly i can drive again but when the engines hot and i do this i can only drive for a block then it cycles again, im guessing it has to be the computer or a sensor on the transmission

Do you Have to pull the fuses to get it to work again? or does just shutting it off for a few minutes do the same thing? If it works again after the trans cools for a few minutes (with out pulling the fuse) you may be loosing fluid pressure internally do to expantion of something. Maybe check the torque on the valve body bolts. Check for good fluid flow to and from the cooler also. Maybe a restriction when something is getting warm. Loop send and return lines at the trans bypassing the cooler and lines all together (Just don't pull a big boat Lol) and see if it goes away.

ya i have to pull fuses or disconect the battery and i was wondering the same thing so asoon as it happened i would fix it under 30 sec and drive away so its defitnately electronic,,, idk what transmission but the motor is from a 93 ty and the trans is rebuilt with 5k miles on it and the check engine light doesnt come on when this happens

The computer doesn't control the trans unless its a 4l60 or 4l80e trans. There's a torque converter lock up switch and a vss (vehicle speed sensor) on the trans so unless you have a different change its doubtful pulling the ECM fuse actually does anything.

If you have a 700r4, it is not a computer or electrical issue. The 700r4 relies on pressures and pressures alone with the exception of the stated above. You may have a TC going bad. What does your fluid look like? Do you hear any whining?

does not wine everything is normal till i hear the fluid being sucked out the tourque converter, my truck will go no where and doesnt engage into any gears i can rev it in any gear but if i reset the computer real quick it will go into every gear and works good sometimes it firm shifts sometimes a smooth shift into second gear but i have not gone into od i chased down a wire from a sensor in the transmission to the small ecm attached to the big ecm brain... does any one know what that is for

That's the VSS... Vehicle speed sensor that signals the speedo and I believe it also signals the ECM the vehicle speed for the lockup on the torque converter as well. I was having a similar issue with my truck when I put it all back together. I would have sworn the fluid level was correct but the truck didn't want to move unless I really reved up to get fluid pressure. Reading appeared to be good on the dipstick but I ended up adding 3 more qts of trans fluid and the level on the dipstick didn't move until the last quart. It was somehow getting a false reading and now the trans opperates perfectly. It was almost like the fluid level was correct in the pan but it wasn't circulating through the cooler and TC until I added enough fluid to get it pumping.
You said it was a rebuild trans and dry correct? It should take 11 quarts or so with an empty TC. Mine took almost 7 quarts and just the pan was drained.
