Yank vs. 9/11

Re: Yank vs. 9/11

so here is the update. i was much closer to sea level (2k feet, in NE) even with the red spring, it would push thru the brakes at 6-7 psi. (would not spool fast enough, and i have LS1 brake upgrade). back up here at 6k feet it wont get past 4 psi. i was in the same place in NE last turkey day and i would not make more than 17 MAX psi. now as picture shows (middle gauge) high reading. keep in mind also, that outside air temps were way way lower in Nov in NE than yestersday (20s vs 90s) and still runnin liquid to air, it was heat soaked big time yesterday. still almost crested 20#s. whereas the forge would prob have me at 21, maybe 22 in the cold. keep in mind i have went from velosyty to code59 also since then, so the WB should only help.

My verdict, of which Mike agrees, the forge gate accuator WILL NOT spool stock convertor at 5000+ feet. Sorry. Hell it barely worked at 2k. Believe me I LOVE the Forge, but it is not enough. Maybe with the addition of L35s. Maybe on my Braphoon project hehe. But the TY gets the Yank, and then hopefully we see results.

Re: Yank vs. 9/11

Just as I said earlier, we're too high. People are generally clueless about our altitude and the real affect it has on things. Look at all the people that thought they were going to be bad ass at NATS, HA! Think about what Erik said, he had a few customers drive THROUGH Colorado with no issues. No talk of them stopping to try and launch the truck AND they were on stock turbos. What does that have to do with you? Let's face it, there is no substitute for a good converter. At least not up here. I would have just put an external gate on it and called it a day. The Forge gate certainly is nice looking but once you leave stock applications I don't see the value. I just hope that when you re-clock the turbo that we can get it to work with that bracket.

As far as the argument Yank vs 911 goes, there is certainly nothing wrong with the Yank but I have always liked the way the 911's perform. If it works it works and that is the important thing.

Code what?
Well I'm glad you guys put it to the test. I'm not to familiar of the differences between altitudes that's for sure. I know my customer drove through Denver to live in Tahoe. I don't know the differences between Tahoe and Denver and he said he couldn't tell a difference from here or there.

Regardless the forge gate is a good upgrade from stock. Reusing it with a reclocked turbo shouldn't be a problem. Using the bracket that renz developed.

Good luck with the yank and be sure to post the results

Re: Yank vs. 9/11

Hey Ron, and Mike, if you can't use that Forge wastgate let me know. I will take it off of your hands. Hope you get the results you are looking for from the Yank!
