TE61 questions

I just traded for a TE61 turbo and ATR DP and external wastegate setup. The exhaust housing is the three bolt kind that requires the adapter. The exhaust housing has no writing or markings on it and the turbine wheel, as best I can tell using calipers, is 61mm diameter
1) I have read the adapter sucks. Is it because it leaks? Is there anything that can be done to improve the adapter?
2) Is the exhaust turbine side PTE 3 bolt or Garret?
3) Where can I find compressor maps?
4) Will it be a good combo for my 3k rpm stall converter and ported Vortec heads?
5) Should I go to larger injectors?

Any answers or other info you can share about this setup would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know about the first couple questions, but I think that 3k stall and ported Vortecs will work well. You might want to consider a more agressive cam since the stocker might be choking the setup. And bigger injectors are almost a given. 50# at least...

Just from what I've learned, all opinions expressed or implied are purely my own :)

yes.. get rid of it and buy the proper turbine housing.

2) Is the exhaust turbine side PTE 3 bolt or Garret?

kinda difficult to tell in your pic, seen as how you cant really see it.

Where can I find compressor maps?

Depends who's turbo it is and if it has a true 61mm comp wheel

4) Will it be a good combo for my 3k rpm stall converter and ported Vortec heads?

it should spool good (depending on what A/R the turbine housin is), and without knowing what you are tying to accomplish it is next to impossible to tell you if it is the right turbo.

5) Should I go to larger injectors?

Depends how much you are going to push it. The stockers hold up pretty well for street boost.

The wheel I was measuring 61mm is the turbine wheel, not compressor. My first post is a little incorrect. It does have precision written on the turbine housing. Sorry I don't have a good pic of the turbine side. those were the pics that came from the guy I got it from.

Just got off the phone with PTE and it sounds like it has the TE61 turbine side with a 60-1 garret compressor built by John Craig (sp?). Still not sure what the A/R is on the housing.

so its a limit engineering turbo, basically with a 60-1 hi fi comp side in a to4e cover. Most likely P trim turbine wheel. the a/r of the exhuast housing should be scribed or cast into the inlet.

Mike and others.
Thanks so much for the help. I found the A/R number like you said on the inlet. Its .63. What do you mean by a "hifi" compressor? I am the kind of person that needs to know everything about any component before I start bolting it on my ride. What kind of hp range could this setup provide given the correct setup? I plan on running a set of nice Vortecs ported and set up with Winston cup parts: Titanium valves, springs, etc. The cam upgrade will come along later when I can afford it. Having to pay for college means I am having to nickle and dime my buildup.
Thanks again
