I think thats what that pos car is called, little convertible roadster? Anyway, Im hummin along in the wife's Ty and I am coming up along side this guy. He sees me coming and suddenly starts accelerating. I drop it to third at about 40 and let him have it. I put a few cars on him at 80% throttle. I let off and he passes me up and we get stuck at a light. When I pull up to the stop light I look over and he is just laughing. Wouldn't look at me but we was laughing. So I say hell with it and give him a nice little 10lb launch. Truck was all over the place. He didn't go for it though. Oh well.

The Z4 Roadsters have been produced for awhile. They cam in engine variances such as a 2.5 or 3.0 liter straight six.

The only ones that will give us a go would be the Z4 M Coupe's really. Super stiff chassis and about 3400 lbs.

Now aftermarket support has some decent superchargers and turbo kits getting installed with outputs hitting 500+ hp.

They handle like they are on rails !:tup:

But then again......that's the beauty of having the choice to drive whatever you've restored with your own hands.

Although...the Z4 isn't old enough to require it yet.....but I'm beating on her hard in the meantime !

I could never take a BMW seriously. Never have, never been beat by one either, except a new M3 but that was barely a race. Best any beamer has ever done against me. But I'm sure he was having trouble shifting of something.

Calling a car Gay is an obvious sign of insecurity or immaturity...take your pick or wear both.

Either way, I could care less. I was just giving some facts about the car mentioned by the OP and trying to be accurate.

Basically I was saying.....there are not many of the Z4's out there, whether convertible or coupe that have been HP modified.

But the ones' that have the SC-500 kit on the Z4 M variant would be a good race to our trucks in the same HP category......at least until the turns came into play. Then...even the coil-over trucks need to park.

I wasn't knocking you're car of choice, just throwing my :2cents:. I personally don't own any other make but GM that's my choice. Also I might add I'm proud of my 20 year old brick that will hand it to a lot of modern "sports cars" yeah they don't handle as good. Again just my:2cents:

88GTZ.... you were fine. I too enjoy my restored Sy. I did all the bodywork and paint...even re-welded a bedside on to make it fit better and shaved the roof weld lines etc. I'm totally into my truck.

I'm just not into bashing others cars like some do just because. I appreciate all makes of cars and always have. Maybe thats just the engineer in me.

My father n law has a 4 year old one that he's been tweeking. Bigger turbo's, cold air intake. The factory warranty just expired, so he just had a limited slip posi put in. That thing is sickly fast. He doesn't have to rotate the rears anymore. He can equally destroy both at the same time.

Nice run! I've driven a few BMWs, and while most aren't anything special off the line, high speed cruising is their forte. Apples to oranges my Ty would rock a lot of different cars off the line, however my SHO would humiliate my Ty at anything higher than 50. Different strokes for different folks, so long as you like what you drive.

For the record, I've driven a Z3. 4 banger automatic, it was God awful slow. Handled great, but I felt like a fruit driving it.

I'm with Ryan, never came across a Z4 owner that wasn't a total goober for the most part. I think it's safe to say that for the most part it's a midlife crisis mobile. But then again James Bond drove one so it must be the shit. I guess it's time to sell the Ty and get a REAL car, Z4 here I come.

:rotf: Shows your experience is quite ltd. I put 50K hard driven miles on mine in a year and a half without one single issue or problem. I packed 350+ lbs of gear in it each week to haul in the generous hatch area.

No way I could have treated my restored Syclone like that without break downs and costs.

I drove that E85 coupe through thousands of miles of canyon twisties and over 140mph so many times. I know the SY/Ty's would have had issues.

If you haven't bought a brand of car and your knockin' it because your Uncle or someone said its Gay....weaksauce for sure.:tdown:

I bought the Sy because of the 'Parts -bin" engineering. I bought the Z4 because of the German over-engineering....and because I wouldn't see myself in traffic every five minutes like other cars like a Civic or Mustang.

I have to say this argument is about as exciting as seeing a z4 drive by me... pretty gay and when I said for the money it's a joke I meant it's performance. I didn't mention anything about it not being reliable or refined. I never mentioned that a 20 year old pickup truck would out perform it in ever single aspect. In fact I never mentioned a syclone or any gm car you just assumed. Also seems your assuming i've never drove a bmw or owned anything but gm brand vehicles.

And then glancing over the thread a bit I see the following assumptions

-I need to get over myself
-am car prejudice
-have obvious sign of insecurity and immaturity
-can't appreciate all makes of cars
-bash other people's cars
-need to travel outside my zip code and open my mind
