**** 700r4's

You can't unring a bell,but I feel that I've got a little explaining to do.The intent of this post was just to express my opinion that I don't think 700's can stand to be thrashed daily with massive torque in front of them.


My truck is pushing 600 ft lbs.I drive it EVERDAY and I drive it HARD. I would not be surprised at all if I do 15 12psi boost launches a week. I have the super sticky Green Dots too.

I don't think any 700r4 could ever take the amount of abuse that I deliver.Not even if it was made out of solid titanium.

When any mechanical part is pushed to it's limits on a regular basis,it will eventually break.Every transmission problem I have ever had attests to this fact.I can't blame anybody but myself for this,and never have.

I'm sure if you had a built 700 that just saw occasional blasts,it would do just fine. If it was beat on unmercifully,it may not.

I hear ya Jimmy, you know ive been in your shoes before Goodluck with the 4L80, Im contemplating a similar move myself hopefully while my 700 is still good.

Damn that blows chunx.
I've got 3 trannies but only 1 is good and that one I cant give ya.
My stock tranny burnt the overrunn clutchs but your motor would make short work of whats left of 'em, or else I'd bring it down to ya.
Don't tell me someone else is gonna have to take mod class...

Glad my wife is more understanding tho'.
She usually just grins when I tell her about the new and improved parts we are getting. :tup:

Only trans that is going back in my Ty is an 80E...I'm not gonna build on a flawed platform.

you must beat the hell outta your transmission like me

here's what i did... lower the boost, back off the timing, and try not to beat on the thing so much

or you could win the lottery and buy a 4l80 setup

you've seen this "parish" guy's silverado with a "stock 4l80 w/shift kit" put down 1000+ lb/ft on the dyno? that says alot about what the tranny can handle.

i'll be watching your 80e conversion for sure. gotta have overdrive!

hey guys, i love my 4l80e, i put about 1000miles a month on my tranny and beat the hell out of it all the time. i bet i have 200 1/4 mile runs, 50+ dyno pulls and 200+ street runs on it. then there is the times when i just beat on if for no reason.l

my truck is 4800 lb's and is running consistant high 10's now.

i got my tranny built by Chuck at Finish Line Transmission 630-350-7776, he has the best reputation of standing behind his product of anyone i know.

I just downloaded the "dyno" movie. OMG....
Can't wait to start using my 4L80E.
Are you using the stock 2.48 1st/1.48 2nd gear ratios that came in the 4L80E or did Chuck change them for the 2.75/1.57 ratio setup?

stock ratios and a PI 10.5" tripple disk converter with a stall speed around 2600. PI told me i could lock up that converter any time i want up to 1600hp. i have it locked on the dyno and i lock it at about 4500rpm in 2nd.

i love it when people underestimate a truck nice truck parish, ive been following it for awhile
now, i just love the "500 hp" zo6
all he hears is whoosh and sees smaller and smaller truck taillights!!

i am excited to start working on more traction and stronger front and rear.. i am going prety easy on it off the line. it pulls ~1.70' 60's but has the power to do soo much better. just not the traction.

PI is probably Precision Industries. makers of the vigilantie series of converters. Gets some billete of his parts from TCS.
