WOT shifts

I noticed a week or two ago when I floored my sy it down shifted from 4th to 3rd and got up to 4200 or 4300 and it didn't shift I let off and it shifted. Well I raced my brother today and now my sy seems to be holding too long on all upshifts, it figures less than a month till NATS and I'm going to have a damn trans problem. I was messing around with it on the drive home and when it downshifts from 4 to 3 feels firm but it gets to 4200 and kinda starts surging until it finally shifts at 4500 or 4600 really late, please help and I really hope its not going to be rebuilding my trans. I searched for about an hour and couldn't find anyone with similar issues, thanks in advance.

Re: WOT shifts

What about the 1-2 & 2-3 shifts at WOT? A vehicle not shifting at WOT could also be a bad cat.

Re: WOT shifts

They seem to hold a little longer than normal, but shifts firm and right even at 85% throttle... my truck don't have a cat or muffler. Thanks for the replies.

Re: WOT shifts

I did that not when I was racing and seemed to work. I'm thinking its a tv cable issue but I'm not going to pretend I know everything about this truck.

Re: WOT shifts

Going to check that out Thursday, I'm putting money on that since I have an open exhaust now. Thanks for all the help guys, I'll keep everyone posted on what I find.

Re: WOT shifts

Launch your Sy in D and manually shift to OD. For whatever reason some SyTy transmission like to be manually shifted inot OD.

I got pretty much the same problem, 3" exh. all the way, with racing cat and a free flow muffler, I found a bad intake-valve though so I'm not able to try out anymore at the moment, I'll follow your thread and try out when I got the engine running again. I have not tried the manual shift at full throttle, a bit conserned about that since it is nothing stopping me from throw the shifter past OD into N or (God forbid) R and P, at full throttle it is quite easy to be a bit too eager when throwing the shifts:lol:

I tried that and it still didn't want to shift...
Like I said I don't think it had a problem until I opened up the exhaust. I'll be back in co Thursday and I'll run a dm hopefully it will show knock or telltale signs its leaning out, I wish I had a wb but money is tight right now.

Re: WOT shifts

Well I put the truck the way it was checked fp and shifted good the first pull but Everytime I got on it again it didn't want to shift more and more so I did a little launch and I'm pretty sure its starting to slip in 4th or its shuttering, so don't look like I'm racing at NATS:rant:
