Re: worn rag joint ?

Lots of people put in the short jeep steering shaft in which uses dual u joints (and is a direct bolt in). Or there is an astro van shaft that requires reclocking the steering wheel and grinding a tab off in the column.

Or you can always replace the rag joint itself...

I always have a few of each (jeep and astro) for sale.

How much for each type of shaft?

Re: worn rag joint ?

Reclocking is not too bad but it takes a bit.
I have 3 options actually but some might be leery of option 3.

1 Short jeep shaft - 35 plus shipping
2 astro shaft - 40 ps

3 astro shaft with the lower joint removed and welded in the correct location to make it a direct bolt in. $75 ps

Is there a problem with doing # 3, and how do you except payment?

Re: worn rag joint ?

Pretty sure the jeep shaft needs reclocking as well... I had to do it on mine and don't recall purchasing an astro shaft. :2cents:

Re: worn rag joint ?

I did the astro shaft from 2000 year, wanted $50 got it for $25 with discount.
I love the mod, fixed steering slop alot but did the comlumn bearing upgrade also mine had alot of play there.
I did have to reclock which is not hard, but a steering wheel kit to remove and install is alot easier.
also the search find i found had me reclock the wrong way for my shaft, had to reclock the other way.
fixed and very happy. also note that you car hear the woosh of the fluid from up the shaft but only at idle or low rpms turning. there is not rubber isolator.

Those are killer prices considering it ran me almost 200.00 to make up
a shaft assy using Boregson and Flaming River parts plus the labor involved
in measuring and cutting the 2 pc shaft to make sure it would fit and retract
correctly.
