wierd problem with ignition/shifter

Ok i jsut put in one of clint's shifter cables, and go that all good, when i went to put eh key in today it was real hard to get it past the little key release switch thing and the same when taking it out, the operation of starting the truck and all is fine and free from obstruction, I ma thinking it has to do with the shifter lock out cable that goes to the shifter, but could be wrong. any ideas before i tear the column apart?

check the adjustment on the park interlock cable, on the shifter.

if its not just right, it will make the key hard to turn.
