Who makes a hot coil for our trucks?

Someone suggested I replace my OEM coil with another unit to try and isolate my detonation problem. Who makes a hotter coil for the SyTys? Is there a direct replacement unit that puts out a hotter spark?

Thanks

MSD, Crane, some others all make plug & play coils that bolt in. Usually hotter coil will mean burned out cap & rotor in a short while. Some have used the MSD coil w/o problems. Some have used the Crane coil and love it. All I have seen is that the MSD made my cap/rotor swaps more frequent. I say if you have a question, get a new stocker.

NAPA autoparts usually has good quality replacement electronic parts. Much beter than you will find at autozone or Advanced Auto. Mabey they can supply what you with one for less than the dealership.

I put an Accel coil on mine for about $50 (Pep Boys), had to do a slight modification to the bracket (took about 10 minutes). Improved idle and gas mileage. Waiting to see if it fries my cap and rotor.

Yep, I have that Blaster sitting on my shelf. Did some testing with it against my old stocker, it, and a fresh stocker. Zero difference on Diacom or seat of the pants. Wound up sticking to the fresh stocker. YMMV
