I'm buying a '92 from a fella in MN, and prior to flying out and picking it up, sy1907 and MotorMouth went and gave it the test drive for me (thanks guys!). They both describe a whine coming from the rear end at highway speeds. Any clue what this could be? I called the seller who I asked to pull the plug and check for fluid, it had gear oil coming out the fill hole, so it has fluid. Any wheel bearing I've ever had to made a low-pitched humming "woom-woom-woom" noise, not a high-pitched whine. I asked the seller to jack up each side and spin the tire, feeling for hangups and listening for anything, but have not heard back on this yet. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh....and this truck needs to survive a 1400 mile commute back to VT. :-?
