I've never got into doing it but I was wondering what
all it takes to do the front these trucks!

Do they have to be pressed in & out?

Anything to worry about

Sealed bolt on bearing/hub. Basically pull caliper, then rotor, take axle nut off, use (I think) large torx bit and remove 3 bolts. Big hammer to loosen hub and remove. Unplug abs wiring as needed. Hubs are expensive, if you did abs delete then you can buy one for a '91 s-10 4x4 without abs much cheaper. I think I covered it all someone will chime in if I forgot something. Good luck with the project.

Yup, he pretty much covered it all.

The big torx is for the caliper.
The hub on mine was all hex heads.

Here's a diagram if you are more a picture person.

These trucks are all about money, you should have been warned that before you bought one.
By the time you buy mod and maintain a Ty for a couple years you coulda gotten a vette, but what fun is that...

you dont need to press anything in or out.
it is completely bolt out and in. you might have to hammer out the old hub if it is tight. no big deal.
it'll cost you about $300 for two hub assemblies. get the inner seals while you are at it, they will be worn.
are the bearings grinding now?

I think that's standard auto parts store pricing too. GM's price is that much or more each if I remember correctly. But I'm sure their parts are twice as good and will last twice as long.

These trucks are cursed
i am actually having a problem with this part of my truck.

when driving, theres a grinding feel coming from the front pass. wheel...

i jacked up the truck, took the wheel off, then spun the rotor... and i got nothing, it spun freely with no grinding... but i noticed the 'boot' on the axle closest to the hub/bearing was all torn up. i cut the remaining pieces of the boot off, and put the wheel back on, then drove the truck... and its still grinding....

does this sound like i need a new axle? new hub/bearing? or god forbid some front diff problem?

any suggestions are appreciated.

yeah, with the wheel off, everything seemed to move fine, no noise, no grinding... i also spun it with the wheel on and everything was smooth...

it just seems odd that when the truck is jacked up its fine but on the ground theres problems.... what i might try doing is jacking up all 4 wheels, start the truck and put it in drive and see what happens. :drinking: im sure the neighbors would get some entertainment if the truck fell off the jack stands while doing that. but as of now i dont have a clue as to what the hell is wrong.
