Vortec heads porting and mods

OK, there or many post on this subject some address what I need to know some dont.

1) Are the vortec heads 97-02. If so you can find them pretty cheap (relatively speaking)

2) All that has to be moded is the intake hole patterns to the new head. Anything else?

3) Ive ported aluminium heads for bikes cuts like butter, Is porting the iron ones a pain in the asss? Is there any difference porting for a forced induction engine. Yeah I have a good flow bench.

1....they are not all that cheap..BC they are newish

2. the bolt pattern does have to be changed yes..and the porting isnt that difficult..

3...and as long as you have a flow bench and a few spare heads to practice on I'm sure you can give Mccoy a run for his money.

Jwaller I see your a comm pilot. Who do you fly for? Im on a furlough right now from American, based out of Dallas.

I fly freight for a company out of Jacksonville (corporate airways)...my run is based in Columbia SC

Don't you also have to fill in the gaps at the front and back of the intake?

yeah just as you normally would ...use RTV the gap remains the same as stock.

thats a good option for you right now...I dont have any jet time so corp is not an option for me right now BC most of those places are looking for some 60yr old dude with tens of thousands of hrs.
