Upgrading Torque Converter

I am going to upgrade my torque converter next weekend. I got a 3000 stall Kenne Bell Torque converter I would like to use to replace my stock converter. I have not done a trannsmission removal on a Typhoon yet but I know I can do it. I have all the tools (I think) and enough room. I was planning on replacing the rear main on the motor, the transmission output shaft seal and a new tranny filter and gasket. My questions to you guys are:

Is there an easy button for this job?

What special tools do I need?

Do you think I can slide the tranny back far enough without removing the Transfer Case to get the new converter in?

How much transmission fluid should I buy?

Do you think I can slide the tranny back far enough without removing the Transfer Case to get the new converter in? No, just drop it, your also changing the seal on the tranny

How much transmission fluid should I buy? 12 liters maybe more because of the convertor.

I am not sure but my best educated guess is yes. Should I be concerned? why you ask?

It also could be the output shaft on the tranny? gonna replace both while I am there.

It's a little painful if you have solid motor mounts like I do. The motor won't lean back tp get to the bell housing bolts. A long extension and electric impact will come in handy. Make sure and check your flywheel for cracks while you have it apart Good luck!

Update: Took me 14 hours. All good except for a few things. I lost the breather hose for the transfer case. The one that conncts to that funny looing white thing on top the transfer case. Anybody know were that vents too? I never did a readjustment on my TB cable, should I? Hope you enjoy the pics?

We both worked non-stop. I might have done a little more on saturday but he had a few tools to put away on sunday. His Ford and M will never see the front of the phoon.

an easy and free upgrade also is to remove the check ball at the tip of the input shaft. this will increase trans fluid flow and result in firmer tc lock up.:tup:
