Update: trans now bogs down in O/D

See post 21 for update

Trans slipped for a fraction of a sec, about 60mph, O/D, then hit hard back into gear, no probs since. Cruised 80mph 2 hrs the denver airport. Driving around in garage at airport, seemed to still shift hard 1-2.

My trans went on my bravada today also, so I really can't have the ty going out too...

When trans went in the gt, it lost 3 and 4 first

Any help/comments appreciated

New fluid, filter and lube guard. Hopefully that will extend the life out. I would advise against hard driving too.

on the drive home, it seemed once to hop around 1-2 change....

the fluid seems to be over full...im going to drain some out, see if that helps any.

so i get to the bravada, and it runs for about 5 mins, then complete slippage.

got a blown engine in my acura, and dodge ram, now trans in bravada, this has been a shitty year. if the ty fails me, we are in big trouble

I hope you can get some more miles out of it. I hate to hear that your hopes of a reliable ride lie with the Typhoon though.

thats the reason i bought the damn bravada, so i didnt have to rack up miles on the typhoon.

so yes i am "all in" once again with a typhoon

So it isn't just the trannys, or just GM products? You are just killing everything, haha! Can you find a cheap trans for for the Bravada...or rebuild it?

looking into what is compatible right now...

the dodge went first, it spun #4 bearing, still runs, knocks bad, 180k on a 5.9
the integra i ****ed up and didnt check the oil that it burned, and shot a rod cap out the side of the block.
just bought this bravada less than 1 month ago. FML
the womans buick overheats (has crack in block i think) cause it loses a gallon of coolant in 1 hour of driving, but leaves no puddle.

So yes, the typhoon has def been our most relible vechile.

Seems all i do ALL the time is work on these god damn cars.

got most of the parts to make the sonoma gt run, but its not very family friendly..

that may be my cheapest route at this point

ive been trying to thin the herd, just sold the scout, was planning on looking at a long block for integra tonight...cant seem to catch up with how fast they fall apart.

one positive note is the woman is in MD/NJ for a month, so i only have to keep 1 going

When my Ty trans went out, seems like it was 1,2 that would slip. Once it hit 3,4 it would fly. Anything over half throttle in 1 or 2 would feel like neutral.

That was Will's philosophy as well. When I met him he had a T-type, a GN, a Sy, and a Ty. That was until one morning when he went to go to work and realized that everything was broken. Sold them all except the Ty.

I lost D/OD in the Lap 1 Ty down in Savannah Friday night while racing on the public interstate. Annihilated the Auto-X event the next day in it with just 1-2 gears and it still worked good when I took it for a rebuild after I got back to TN. I would guess you are in for a treat real soon .

That sucks man. Get a decent vehicle, and stop buying crap! :lol: I just got rid of my long bed. I'm down to my crew cab S10 that I dd, my Ty, just got a '92 Yamaha XJ600 Seca II, and my girl has a Cavalier. I am trying not to buy anything else before she gets a new car, and we get a bigger house...or she may castrate me.

trust me im trying to get rid of them, but im not takin 300 on a car that i can put 400 into and sell for 1500.

Update on topic; did filter/fluid change (oil too ). guess we will see.

you want to purchase the red bottle of lube guard . It can be purchased at any auto parts store. Runs $ 11.00 or so .
