Typhoon makes "flutter" noise when accelerating

When i do a quick acceleration from rest to maybe 50-60 or so, i hear a "fluttering noise" it sounds like gas escaping. The flutter noise usually starts at around 40MPH or so, and after accelerating the noise stops.

I have some ideas on what may be cuasing it but i'd like to check with you guys on how i can fix this problem.

One idea i have is my muffler/exhaust. It is the stock muffler and no cat. The muffler is pretty old and has a couple quarter-size holes in it.

Another idea is the wastegate.. maybe i am getting too much boost and it is just releasing.. I have the stock boost gauage and i know its not the most accurate.. When accelerating its pretty much a constant +15 on the guage untill i level off..

Please share your ideas to help me find what is wrong and is causing this flutter noise. :D

If you removed the cat and everything else is stock, you're probably running into overboost. Had it on a scantool yet, or notice it cutting out at WOT?

You should hear the turbo whine as it spins. It's not just that is it? When the turbo is boosting away and you let off the gas, the throttle blades slam shut and force all that air back out through the turbo. That backwards air pushes against the turbine and flutters (like when you blow into a window fan). That's the most common flutter...

Have you checked all your intake hoses and clamps? If you have a leak, all that forced air will be flapping out the hole...
