Ty vs. Eclipse turbo

I seen this kid around town in a black eclipse, always throwin off his BOV around like his shits tight, he's got the typical ricer decals, stainless silencer, fake ass blue headlights, all the shit that pisses me off about ricers. So he pulls up to me at a stoplight that merges into one lane about a 1/10 mile after the light. I give him no respect, don't even stage, the light turns green, his lights get about even with my rearview and then I just pull him. I went up to 85mph and had him by at least 10 car lengths. I thought those eclipse turbos were fast especially with a coffee can muffler.

yeah some of them are very fast, i raced one last year who i guess ran somewhere in the 11s on street tires, i killed him for about 1/8 mile then he blew my doors off, with a little help from the bottle, i didnt like his girlfriend waving to me, felt like an ass but i guess if i put about 20 grand in my car i would be fast as hell too...but must respect for being that fast

There are alot of quick DSM's out there, but there are also alot of POS Dsm's to, i know, i work at turbo shop for dsm/audi/vw................the thing with a DSM is tryin to keep it on the road runnin hehe

I had the same question a while back and I found this site. A/T definitely are in a minority versus the manuals though! They might have been faster with the AWD cause of brake torque launches BUT the DSM company crippled all the A/T with smaller turbos and injectors! :sad:

I don't know about you guys but I don't let ANY turbo DSM get the benefit of the doubt.. I have been burned too many times by DSMs that I thought were slow but turned out to be really quick! So now when a turbo DSM meets me at a light, I give him the "Full Meal Deal". (Unless it's a GS-T FWD then I might wait and see if he's gonna go before I mash it)

Agree with you, before my Sy i had a 5-spd 91 GSX (awd) Turbo. The only mods i did on this 100K mile car was turn up boost from 11psi stock to 17psi, K/N filter and a full 3" exhaust w/o cat. The best time i had was 8.6 @ 80mph on a 1/8 mile track (temp in the low 90's). I think it's a mid 13's on a 1/4 track, correct me if i'm wrong?

Yea, it should run about mid 13's im lookin to buy a syty. my brother has a dsm that runs 12.1@112 on 15 psi on pump gas. He is getting the head ported with stainless valves etc....hoping to do low to mid 11's on a FWD on pump gas. Hope when i get a ty i can run with him...

Josh, Brett bought a racing video off Ebay that has a lot of DSM'S racing. There's this one video that was taken from FOX's "Worlds scariest police chases." It was a 1st gen Talon TSi and it SMOKED THE COPS. It was kind of funny because the cop dude was like, "We had no trouble when we had the 5.0 mustang cop car rollin in" THE DSM SMOKED THAT AS WELL. It went on FOREVER then the guy gave up or the engine failed.

You should see it sometime.

LOL...i saw a cop video like that with some dude runn'n with a 5.0 after him...the whole video was shot from inside the rustang, when suddenly the cop actually gets on the speaker and yells out "you can't outrun me, i got a 5.0".....LOL......the dude being chased instantly pulled over and gave up...I was roll'n...this guy gave up because he was being chased by a 5.0 and when he found out he gave up...THis is the sorta crap that gives mustang owners false hope!!! I have often dreamed of getting into a chase with the cops with my sy...I'd pullover like i was ready to give up and then launch, LOL.....

Ahhhhh anyways, whatever, hehe.....

Its all in fun man. Fords are cool too and many of mustangs can smoke me, but a copper with 5.0 using his speaker to tell the guy being chased that he can't get away because he has a 5.0 is to funny to be unstated. Don't take it personal, just think its sorta funny!
