If my tv calbe wont hold an adjustment what do i have to replace? The whole set up (cable and bracket with the D button) or just the cable?

The cable and the d button are all one piece. so you have to replace it.

I have seen ppl in the past use a hose clamp behind the adjuster so that it wont move. it's not pretty but it will get you by until you get what you need.
