I'm having a hard time figuring out what your talking about.

Are you saying:
At part throttle it shifts like crap. Really soft.
Then at WOT it will not make a 1-2 shift?
The 1st gear thing is throwing me. As soon as you put it in Drive, the forward, sprag, and low roller clutch hold and it moves. It doesn't move and then shift into 1st. That's just not the way it works.
In order for it to shift, governor pressure MUST overcome TV pressure. If TV isn't right, then everything else gets thrown off.
If your TV cable did the click click POP! deal then the adjuster is shot and the adjustment isn't right. A stock TV cable should just go "click click click" all the way to correct adjustment. I've seen some of these rusted up solid.
Get another cable.
Pull the valvebody and the governor. Clean them out with carburetor cleaner. Make sure all the valves MOVE freely. If you pull the pan and there are CHUNKS of metal and pieces of spring, tear it down. If there is just metallic sludge on the magnet, clean it off and do the valvebody and governor. Look at the thimble screen for the governor. If it's clogged up, clean it out with carb cleaner or replace it if you have one on hand. I would pull the pump lineups too and make sure nothing got clogged up there. The sludge on the magnet is metal from the planetaries and the torque converter. This is normal to have the powder. If you have 200 miles and it's covered in powder, then something else is wrong.

Re: TV Cable Strikes Again...

Yea mine I think the rachet part is bad when I adjust mine to like the video it shifts so hard at low speeds it chirps the tires and if I drive it in traffic I want to kill someone in about 20 mins but now it shifts fine but if I stab the hell out of it it takes off like a raped ape but wont shift into 2nd untill i let off...WTF the it goes into 2nd fine 3rd fine and all that..

Re: TV Cable Strikes Again...

lemme try again to explain what its doing..

1) Shift out of park into OD... right now its NOT in 1st... its in 2nd....or something else, but NOT 1st...
If I go about 3/4 throttle to WOT from this point it drops into 1st and doesnt shift out of it until at least 4,000 rpm...

If i do any less throttle the truck creeps forward in whatever gear its in...prolly 2nd or something else... then shifts up from then on like normal...

stopping on an uphill = torture... the light turns green and it takes literally 5 seconds of 1/2 throttle to even get it to move forward at all... or I can floor it and itl go into 1st. It'l go right uphill just like its supposed to...but I look like a freakin jackass leaving from a stop at around 5000 RPM to get it to shift up... (cops dont like that =P)

Want a video?

I'm not a transmission guy so I gotta find someone local to take a look at all the stuff you mentioned above for me... Ive heard good things about Holly's Transmission in Stanhope...I remember hearing someone mentioning that they've worked on a Sy/Ty with good results... idk If I should believe that though...
