yea sure.

a turbo is like a bulldozer, it uses really large tank tracks to make the engine stronger for like 3000 horsepower. then you can drive thru buildings and stuff.

and the intercooler is kinda like myclones mom. it just blows.

Basically a turbocharger is like a little fan that blows at high speed to compress the air going into the engine, so you end up with more air in the engine than normal. Then you add more fuel and it makes more power.

When the turbo is spinning so fast it really heats up the air which is bad for horsepower, so the intercooler is like a radiator, but it removes some of the heat from the compressed air on its way to the motor, making it colder.

I'm playing along of course...Now...what's a supercharger? My buddy has a Supercharged Extreme...I think it could be a Cyclone.

can u guys also tell me what is the differance between a turbo and a supercharger ???

A turbo actually has 2 "fans" (I left this part out of the initial description), one does the blowing like I described but there's another one directly connected, and it is placed right in the exhaust flow path. So when the engine is producing exhaust, it spins the turbo including the front one which is connected, and that front one then compresses the air. So the turbo gets its power to spin, from the exhaust.

A supercharger is the same thing except instead of having 2 wheels where 1 is powered by the exhaust, it only has 1 compressing wheel and it get its power from the engine belt. Some superchargers also don't necessarily have a "fan" that compresses the air, some are like 2 interlocking screws, etc..

A turbo is an air compressor. It is "powered" by your exhaust gasses. Whenever air is compressed, a by-product is heat.
The intercooler is a device that the compressed air travels thru. As the air passes thru the intercooler some heat is transfered from the compressed air to the intercooler.
Cooler air is more dense than warm air. Cooler air has the potential to make more power.

haha
Ideal gas law pertains to both SC and Turbo and any other gas compressing (or expanding) device.

I thought turbo was those little speed pills you buy at the gas station.:D

And air conditioning...it's all clear...everything in the universe is connected.

And the gas leaving my a$$
Its all relevant in a relatively irrelevant kinda way. Depending on your Frame of reference of course.:D
