Turbo lag?

Truck is now roadworthy. I was going to go to a local "tuner" but a few things held me back from such. I have the stock converter being used. I dont know much about what it even is. (stall) Since I upgrade turbo, Im wondering why I dont see the boost build up rapidly.

Is this partly due to incorrect stall converter? turbo is not seeing a good power range.

I try a brake boost and it not really like I have seen. just starts to take off, brakes rubbing.

I held up on the tune, becasue I want to get the right converter and than go tune and get the most out of truck. Makes the most sence to me. I know this dyno guy isnt cheap.

Also I heard some mechanical noises comming from what sounded like the Prop shaft, Im going back thinking are these balanced. If removed and not put back in exact place will it cause a noise? or is the thing shot? also could my driveshaft have a bad universal joint? how do we check that?

It sounds like a clicking under me. And time to time I am hearing a click up by front CV that spin the front pass wheel. I replaced both of them CV axle. I am also talking about the joints that are pressed in the driveshaft/propshaft

Re: Turbo lag?

What turbo did you go with?

Most likely the stock stall which I believe is in the 2200 to 2300 range isn't enough and should be upgraded.

Where are you going to get it dyno tuned?

Chirping sound from under you.. I experienced that once and shortly after the upgraded propshaft I had let go and swung around and bent my shifter or range selector out of wack. I'd look over the propshaft real good or remove it and drive the truck to see if the noise is gone. If it is the you know the shaft has to be serviced or replaced.

I would think the shafts are balanced but i've never had a problem with removing them and putting them back in but some say you should mark how it was in before you remove it and im sure that couldn't hurt.

In a pm to me, he said it has a pte6152. I would agree that the truck needs a larger stall converter.

I would fix the mechanical noises first. I don't have any specific idea's but my first plan for noises like that to get under the truck and start grabbing parts you suspect make that noise and see if they are loose or visually inspect them for ripped boots.

Re: Turbo lag?

Does your tuner know binary? What is he going to use to tune your truck, Is he going to burn you chips, what program is he going to use?

Re: Turbo lag?

A tune should definately help too I would think ... x3 on the converter being changed if its stock ---
