Turbine Wheels

Does anybody know what turbine wheels PTE uses on their kits, I spoke with Patrick at PTE and he says it's the Garrett GT350 but he is not allowed to give me the dimensions of the wheel Inducer/Exducer.

If anyone has their PTE PT52 laying around waiting to istall, Please, throw a caliper on there and post some measurements

Thanks

A real deal TE45 has a P trim exhaust wheel, larger than a 350. A TE45 is a John Craig creation, and is about the equivalent of a PTE63 or so, might have a different compressor cover however.

I've just about had it with all of these different manufacturers using different names for the wheels. What wheels comp./exh. do the ones on the PT52 compare to in turbonetics lanquage. The reason I ask is because I am a little bit more familiar with the turbnetics line of wheels. Mike Lee had suggested a P trim exh wheel, so I'm wondering if the GT350 might be a little on the small side?

Thanks

You can't compare a PTE turbo to a Turbonetics or Innovative turbo really. They won't use a PTE exhaust housing on any of their turbos. PTE uses their own selection of compressor & turbine wheels. They may even machine the wheels to their liking. They definitely customize the compressor housing & exhaust housing.

This is proprietary stuff. Go GM for their source code on an ECM, or Microsoft for that matter...

If they told you every part in the turbo, what's to stop someone else from making that turbo, and killing the business on their product.

You guys are looking at this stuff from a completely wrong aspect, but I understand your frustration. The biggest info you will probably get is what HP a turbo will support, and real world results from people not associated with the business. I've seen people run good numbers with Turbonetics, Innovative, PTE, Limit Engineering, Turbo Specialties.. You can compare some turbos from other companies, but you will find that a TE44 from one vendor is different than a TE44 from another vendor. They may use the same wheels, but one may use a different type of bearing, or may custom machine the compressor side, or use a different exhaust side. Yes it adds to the confusion. I go by what other people have run, and listen to the vendors to see how well they know the product, what their opinion is on the turbo. That opinion has to be weighed however, as they are trying to sell you a turbo
