After looking through posts, I am considering using bigger GM pan vs. Derale tranny pan;each is supposed to be direct replacement which is what I want.Will Derale offer better cooling;will it hit ground since truck is lowered?;Is Summit the best place/best price? Should I just go with GM pan and save some money?...Thanks

I have the derale, haven't had anytrouble...

in theory it will help with cooling...with my aux cooler, and the pan my tranny temps have never been a problem, in fact I wonder sometimes if it stays too cool (150deg.)

might raise to 160-170 if I launch hard, then drops back down...

My truck is lowered, doesn't hit..

May be overkill as Waller suggested, up to you.

Tall Cool One & Typhoon 4 Ever. JWaller gave ya a good part number according to GP Perf Parts book for "Trans Pan 4L60 Extra Deep-Holds extra two quarts". GM Book also recommends part # 24208576 for filter, gasket and o-ring. Let me know how it turns out...?

if you can get the parts guy to seel you just the pan..which is a different numer..you can get that thing for under $20...

Ok question, is that pan and filter for the 4L60/700R4 or the 4L60E, I heard that the E uses a different filter and it wont work in 700. Does that filter sit lower in the deeper pan or does the pan just hold more fluid? Thanks.

The filter that they list in the performance catalouge is for a 4l60e tranny, they won't fit our 700r4. The tube that goes into the pump is a larger size on the E tranny.

You can just use a regular filter with the deep pan and let it just kinda hang there, or build some sort of bridge in the pan to hold it up.

I'm gonna machine an aluminum sleeve that will extend the regular 700 filter to the bottom of the deep pan. That way I'm sure to be sucking fluid of the bottom of the pan in case I get any foam etc happening.
