it kinda sounds to me like your tv cable is adjusted too tight.
thats the first thing i would check. its the cable that goes from your throttle to the trans.

There's another thread going on right now that's similar. My tranny did that, and I found out it was on it's way out. It would ride 1st or 2nd gear (forgot which) for a long time until I got off the throttle and it would shift. You may have lost one of your bands (doesn't sound like your 2/4 band but you could be feeling it ride 1st gear) I'd play with the TV cable too, but if that doesn't cure it you're most likely looking at a rebuild.

if your looking at the windshield move the cable to the left makes it shift easy or right
i adjusted it and it just bags into 2nd hard this cant be good for it

adjust the tv cable shifts better but to hard in 1st to 2nd
shifts alittle high just above 3000 rpm can you adjust for lower shift point?

1-2 should be neck breaking hard shifts
What trans do you got? Stock?
If its stock it seems maybe to be to hard by your description.
If it´s racebuilt it seems just fine.
Slipping shifts kills trans. Hard shifts me like :D

Shifts points can be adjusted a bit with the TV. Otherwise the goveneur.
Does the TV cable moves freely? Does the rpm shift when you pull a little bit in the cable when idling?

If its not shifting into 3:rd? Your tranny is toast.

Run in D (not OD) and let go of the throttle...does it shift down thru the gears when the car slows down?

its a stock tranny
its going into 3rd and down shifting notice it when coming to a stop just before you stop it shifts into first i asume
the trans shifts around the 3000 mark and just a very very hard shift its almost needs to be able to shift at a lower rpm
the tv cable moves freely and set about 3 clicks to the left. the other gears are better and act like a performance shift but that 1st to 2nd is like a bang

The TV cable isn't meant as an adjustment tool. It's used to tell the trans what position the throttle is in, so that it can adjust line pressure. Using the TV cable to try to change shift points can screw stuff up with the wrong pressures. It should be set properly, then left alone.

sounds good to me...as far as its not a "Metal-clunk-bang" when its shifts 1-2.
Stock trans shifts 1-2 hard and softer on the other gears.
Got a customtrans bulit that shifts hard like 1-2 on all gears, exept from right know when its start slippig on 2-3  . So its gone be in for a adjustment/rebuilt.

1-2 is supposed to be hard, I mean like spilling soda kind of hard. everything else seems kind of correct to me. I would rather have it shift hard than soft, slipping trans kills them. hard shifting isn't good on hard parts, but like bill said, TV isn't for adjustment.
