Trans fluid

What is the best trans fluid to use for the TY? My trans is out of the truck and was rebuilt by the previous owner and I am not sure what the best fluid would be to put in. Thanks Rick

I use plain trans fluid and a bottle of lubeguard also. Most everyone on this board will say stay away from synthetic..

So use dex III and add lubeguard and should be ok? That's what my trans builder wanted me to put in my tbss not the dex6 that GM says to put in it.

Royal purple gets very bad reveiws every where I read. Some people have a diff opinion on it but I did hear that it will raise temps on what ever you put it in.

In the Sy I use Dexron III and Lubeguard (recommended by GM). I too bought into the Royal Purple hype in my Xtreme, and within 7,000 miles I had to buy a new trans. My builder blames the fluid and warned me not to use anything but the proper called out Dexron fluid. He has an 8 second charger and says he doesn't use anything but NAPA Dexron fluid. This was my experience, so take it for what it's worth since there are many factors that come into play.

Royal Purple is synthetic, AVOID IT!

I use the cheapest conventional fluid I can find, typically the Tech 2000 stuff at Walmart. If you wanna pay more for a name brand go ahead, but its all the same stuff.

I run conventional Dextron III with 2 Quarts of conventional Type F and 1 bottle of Red Lubeguard.
