i had read before that there were differences in trannys and transfercases ???? i have a sy tranny and tranfercase with 73k on it (the truck was all original ) and a 93 ty tranny and transfercase with 37k on it (but the engine was modded !!! ) what are the differences ??? they both ran and drove fine and shifted hard (like they're supposed to ) but i want the best to go behind my engine which is the modded one ... and if anybody has it please pm me jwallers phone # i might just have him build one and sell the other ......

The trannys have the same dimensions and will bolt right up.
There were some differences form year to year as to what GM did inside them, but for the most part they are interchangable.
The transfer cases have different output splines. They are not interchangable unless you change your front driveshaft yoke.
