i heard the only reason the governer is low on the sy is b/c the stock tires aren't rated high enough...if you put z rated tires on is their a chip that takes the speed limiter off or raises it????
I heard stock with the gov off and a chip they will run low to mid 140's. I would think its like trying to push a brick through a wind tunnel at anything above 150. How do they handle at the top end anyone know?? I havent found a good place to open mine up yet
Competed in the Big Bend Open Road Race in Texas with Dabney in 1999. In his fairly stock Typhoon - still had cat - side exit exhaust - prototype Ultimate chip . Some other basics.
We averaged 120 mph over the 120 miles. We hit a max speed on the diacom of 150mph - On radar at a different point they got us around 143 mph.
Have 30 minute Diacom files from the runs - somewhere...
There was some video from the race on the Sportmachines videos..
I thought someone (Ghettosled?) said if you maintained high speed like that, you would likely spin a bearing in the motor? Also I have heard that WOT in Overdrive (which I assume is the only way to run those speeds) can be a risky proposition. Can anyone qualified to comment on this help us out? I would just like to know for the record.
I dont know about the bearing thing...dont know why that would be...but as far as the trans goes...the stocker is a POS to begin with but a properly built 700 can do WOT in OD all day......
Unless you have a built tranny, you are playing with fire using OD for normal
driving where there is a lot of 4-3 downshifting. Your sprag will ruin your day
if giving enough chance. Use D for normal driving. You have engine braking and
your turbo is ready at all times. If you have a built tranny and a nice TC, you
can do whatever you want.
