ok here it is.
i just bought a daily driver and the sy is now parked in the garage. heres what i plan on doing to it within the next 6 months.
pt&e -60 turbo
single core air/air ic
50# injectors W/chip
smc alky kit
i already have all of the reliability mods as well as a few power mods(intake, exhaust, ultimate chip,9/11 t/c)
From past experience what do you fast guys think this combo will run? I am looking for LOW 12's maybe high 11's.
is this doable with this combo and stock internals? My best time so far is 13.6

If not, pullng the motor will be necessary as well as some heads..ect.
should i send the motor away to McCoy? what are my options if i cant achieve my goal on stock internals?
thanks,
nick sy #112 (finally in the garage takin a break!!)

Im no expert but my truck has ran 12.31 on 110 octane@ 20psi with less parts than you mentioned.

Mods are:

9/11
garrett hybrid (T3 exh and 60-1 comp)
ALL the go fast stuff in the FAQ
mild port polish on the upper IC

Ive never had the valve covers off the eng. bone stock from TB to oil pan. I am constantly tinkering with FP and timing to get the best perf with >2.0 deg KR on 93 octane.

I was stuck at 12.67 till I started manually locking the 9/11 TCC. That alone knocked over 3 tenths off.

Low 12s IMO are easily done without yanking the eng or doing injectors... Unless your like me and just want to.

HTH.

Just as Myclone said... keep the stock motor in if you only want deep 12s.

A turbo upgrade will make it easier, stall converter also.

How many people are running high 11's with stock internals? What about the heads? Is pulling off and porting the stock heads(almost free to do) worth my time? I know the heads are where alot of power is made, so i dont want them too restrictive. What about aftermarket heads, worth the money?
thanks again,
nick

a lot of power can eb made by upgrading the heads but it's all relative....you must be able to tune your truck for the new heads.

Nick we got that Ty all together, just waiting on the chip. I'll try to get him out to the Pavillions next Sat (Feb 9) so you can check it out.

If you only running 13.6 with those mods you have a problem. I would fix and/or tune your truck until it runs properly. Put mods onto a improperly tuned truck is just going to make it that much harder to tune.

We ran it, but it was running rich. We found out that he had somehow gotten the regular Ultimate chip. So Brian is sending the 50 pounder, it'll be a few days still before tuning begins. Can't wait.
