A gallon of lacquer thinner did wonders for the IC on Sy #2596. I couldn't believe how much crud came out of it! I blocked off one end, poured in half the gallon, swished it around, and drained it. Then, I rinsed the next half gallon through it. Any residual lacquer thinner evaporates off very quickly.

TB cleaner would work also I imagine. Although you may get the best effects from the fill/flush method Rob mentioned

Here's a link with detailed instructions on doing it for an Air-to-Air IC, http://www.89tta.com/icclean.htm

Gino (fellow Typhoon owner as well) sounds like he got good results on his 89' TTA doing this. Please let us know how it goes!! I want to try the cleaning as well (and on the TB) and I am anxious to hear what exactly the results are.

used about a gallon or so of xylene that I had left and man let me tell you how bad that was, swish around dump out black liquid, swish around dump balck liquid.....
took almost all of the xylene before it started coming out clean. I recomend this to everybody, all that oil cant be good for heat transfer

lets see where do I start....

dead battery hit the interior light while cleaning it, didnt notice till 3 days later
rear pinnion seal going out
and either the AFPR or fule pump is on its way out too

so I guess the answer is no I havnt done any testing . but it cant hurt, there was a lot of oily residue in there
