Timing question

Small question on timing. Do you disconnect the tan wire then start the truck and set the timing with a light like on any other vehicle or is it different? Just want to know before I start so I dont screw things up any worse than they are now. Thanks

Start it up then disconnect tan wire.
Attach timing light just like any other car to #1 cyl.
Adjust if required.
When you're done re-connect tan wire.
Disconnect + bat. terminal to clear code.
Start it up & drive it like you stole it.
