thoughts on MSD ignition

IMO MSD stuff is just parts you'll replace down the road when they cause you problems and fail; you'll spend time trying to figure out what it is, then swap out the MSD and it will cure your problems.

Other than that I've seen them work, haven't seen them NEEDED by my own eyes yet though, where the stock part wouldn't do, if that makes sense.

How's that for confusion?

i love my MSD distributor.

id never go back to the stock one.
if it died id buy another one.
made a noticable difference in idle, and how fast the motor started.
it fires very fast now. sometimes faster than i can get off the starter.

Hey Brian,

Soon I hope to have my Sy home from McCoy's and I was wondering about the MSD6alBTM. I had a new one that I sent to Jerry to install, but for some reason it didn't work? :( I had planned on getting a replacement when I get the truck home, but now you've giving me second thoughts? Do you think I NEED it?

Supermotor
Stage 3 Vortecs
512 cam
72 turbo
F.A.S.T.
Air2Air
3000 stall
etc.

I kinda like the rev limiter and the BTM features though!

FWIW, I think the MSD distrbutor is a good idea.. i was more speaking about the MSD boxes & coils.

The BTM might provide some good at the track tuning I suppose.. but keep in mind it will be a question mark if you have problems ;)

I liked my MSD 6A . It seemed to smooth out some igniton issues I was having. More spark = better for me. It idled well enough . I put a 7A and a HVAC coil on my Syclone...

I dont need a 6AL - limiter in the stock ecm .

The BTM is for cars that are not normally turbocharged. It pulls 1 -3 degrees for every 1 psi of boost . You dont want this...
