tci Maximizer transmissions

i blew the tranny for the second time on the syclone about 6 months back. local guy rebuild this one. i think he build it as a regular s10 tranny with a stock s1- converter. as my luch has it. the tranny was build about 7-8 years ago. it just didnt feel like the stock tranny did. guy told me to drive it for 500 miles and bring it back so he could check it out. well not even a week later. the guy closed up shop. so fast foward to a few months back. driving to work one morning. i lost all foward gears. felt like it over boosted on me. picked back up and a big boom happened.had tyo drive to work in reverse the rest of the way.
truck has been towed and stored at my buddys house since. since then i have had a syclone and typhoon at my shop for small work. after taking them for a test drive. i want my own back. just not sure if a tci will hold up.
stock truck no major mods on it. i have a stock converter i bought off someone years ago sitting at my shop. at least i was told its a stock one.
i searched the fortums and came up with nothing on tci trannys.

anybody use these trannys and have good luck with them?

i found the one i linked and 2 more from tci on summit. they have different part numbers and price, but the description is the same for all 3 of them

yeah im serious. i taslked to blake already. im just lookin around here to see what works best for me. as far as i know summit does not need a core back. i didnt see it listed on there site, but ill have to find out better on that. so if thats the case. that saves me how much right there. i have to many things going on right now to just pay for a tranny.

if you cant afford the $200 for a good core then you cant afford a good trans. you are better off going to aaomco (and spending way more up front) and having them do it under warrenty 5 or 6 times till they tell you to get lost and they keep your $.

See what works best for you? I already told ya.

Would you let an Amish mechanic work on your truck?

This Sy/Ty specific trans stuff has been going on for 15 years. There are a couple of 700's that MIGHT last awhile, and they are only available here.

PERIOD.

Just go ahead and get a Stage 5 Dr. Evil Mega Raptor Super Duper Maximizer Monster whatever.

Trust me, spend a little more to get a reputable trans,or throw yourself to the mercy of retarded parts changing monkeys.

You have been warned.

Re: tci Maximizer transmissions

this is a board for help. not to shut people down when they ask a question. i dont see whats wrong with asking if this tranny is any good. if i wanted to hear amish jokes i woud go to PA. if i wanted to have a monkey buid a tranny i woud go to the zoo. i had customers bring down a raptor tranny for a stock 97 7.3 turbo. didnt last more than a month. so i know not to use them. im came on here to find out about this tranny. a simple yes no because of this and that. not all this bullshit talking. i have aot of things goin on right now that my money is tied up in. if i had the money i would get a waller or blake one. im not a tranny pro so i figure i could get a good response from this place. not hear al kinds of shit

It's junk. They're all junk.

Of course I consider anything but something from one of the reputable dealers on here junk, including the POS stock 4L60E in my daily driver '04.

You asked for our advice, we gave it.......You don't like it, thats not our problem. Go cool off, read some threads on people who have bought transmissions from random shops (like some guy who closes up a week after he sold yours), and see what you find. Then come back and let us know how well your super maximizer trans worked out for you.

You seemed really defensive that we didn't tell you the "maximizer" was what you needed. It'll work great in a 4wd or rwd setup that has plenty of give in some place other than the trans. With wide tires all around and 500ft-lbs of torque easily acchieved. These vehicles require special trans prep to live any longer than a trip around the block. I'm actually amazingly surprised you don't already have this mindset to be honest, seeing as your last trans made 500 miles before losing all forward gears. You also have 1k+ posts and I'm sure you've read a few posts about transmissions here and there.

We're just trying to save you some headache as just about everyone here has broken a transmission at least once, and a good number have dealt with "off the shelf" units with VERY VERY LITTLE success.

To quote a great movie with a bit of a twist (Mike H will get this).......

...."If I'm curt with you it's because this has been discussed time and time again. I think fast, I talk fast and I need you guys to listen if you wanna get a trans that will last. So, pretty please... with sugar on top. Buy the right fukin' transmission "

:D :D

Your best bet is have it built locally and do NOT beat on it. No performance builds, just have it put back to where it works and drive it. When you can afford to beat on it, then do so. There have been many guys tell me the same thing....if you can't afford to fix it, don't race it.

Re: tci Maximizer transmissions

I bought a tci tranny before. It was there best performance build cant rember what the called it then but it lasted 3 passes on a 500 hp 2 wheel drive 2500 pound car. Needless to say id never do that again. Have a local performance transmission shop build you one before you drop 1800 bucks on a tci. The guys on here that bulid the Know these trucks and the common problems with them im sure they'd be your best bet. George is building me a trans 80e now. BTY u done yet George!!

Almost! Just waiting on converter covers. They are making a bunch of them so I don't get stuck waiting on them like this again. It backed up Adam's, Mike's, and several others as well. Hopefully, this won't happen again.
