Syclone / Typhoon rear end difference?

Is there ANY difference between a Sy and Ty rear end (ABS aside)? I bought a set of adjustable lowering blocks from overseas, advertised for a Syclone. I get them, and the knob on top of the block is too big to fit into the hole in the mounting plate of the axle, by approx. 0.050". I emailed the company, and got back....

"Hi Adam,

They were not designed to fit a Typhoon, only the Syclone as it states on the ebay auction (I didn't mention Typhoon anywhere). You can send them back but the shipping might be quite a lot, its up to you but I don't think you should of bought them for a vehicle that isn't listed."


Are the holes in the bottom really larger on a Syclone, or am I getting smoke blown up my a$$?

I was under the impression that syclones had a different axle flange because of the abs, but the 92 ty's had that as well. :dunno:

I have no idea about the mounting plate, I have never heard anything about different lowering blocks, but I haven't paid that much attention to block eitehr since I am not going that route.

As for rear end difference, I know the syclone have a 3 bolt axle flange, Typhoons have a 4 bolt axle flange. It was a corporate axle change.

I've made several sets of blocks and they fit both sy and ty, I've not noticed a differance in the hole sizes.

buy a syclone, and try installing them on that.

i would just drill out the hole and be done with it.

What are adjustable lowering blocks anyhow, that doesnt sound very safe??

because when you put a normal 2" or 4" lowering block in, because of the angle the blocks will be at, the axle moves forward in the wheelwell. These allow you to move the axle back a little to recenter the wheel in the wheelwell after lowering the truck.

I don't know how well they will work; it seemed like a decent product to test out. Who knows, maybe I'll take it dry on a dumb gimmick, and maybe it'll work nicely.

looks like a great way to offset your rear wheels if you aren't precise w/ where you set them at before installing
