Re: Spun Bearing?

Had the same flakes in my filter.Defenetly the main bearings are broken cause they are golden.Dont start it anymore then you have a little chance to save the crankshaft from damage.

Stab it and steer it
Re: Spun Bearing?

All as above. Cut that element open and look at the bottom of the pleats. Just do it sitting down. Most of the crud, metal whatever, ends up there.

Re: Spun Bearing?

On mines the metal shavings were coming out of the filter when I was draining the oil out of it. Thats when I decided to cut it open.

well i guess on my last oil change i would have seen shavings on the magnetic oil drain plug.
but i drained the oil out of my last filter but still have it im gonna cut it apart as well. man i think your very lucky for seeing that or the track day would have been a bad day, someone may have been looking out for ya, even though there still a build needed in the furture but could be worse like they mentioned prior.

I use an exhaust pipe cutter. Dual-purpose, very heavy-duty, cuts quick and about the same price as a filter cutter.

Re: Spun Bearing?

I am thinking about doing a bowtie bottom end, maybe have a shop assemble it this time of me.

In the ty is the standard build, 4 bolt , JE and Eagle etc...and rpm ported vortec.

I have a bowtie block and 3.75 stroke billet crank.,I am trying to figure how much of parts on the current block I can reuse on the bowtie block.

I know I will need new piston for the 3.75 stroker crank, I am thinking of reusing the eagle rods unless I can find some cheap used oliver.

Anyone see a problem with this?

Re: Spun Bearing?

You will want to use a 5.85 rod on a 3.75 stroke crank. If not the piston skirt will fall below the cylinder walls. its been done with a 5.7 rod but a 5.85 is preferred. Sorry to see you spun the bearing.
I just pulled my motor too. I wanted to freshen it up since there was over 300 passes on the motor. It looked brand new inside. i was amazed!!!

I have some changes in progress fro my stock block build. !!!!!!!!???????

Re: Spun Bearing?

The bearing did 'spun' but they are pretty bad. There are some scuff marks on th crank.
