Side Exit Exhaust

GM TURBO

Sell Out
Anyone have pics on a Ty of their side exit exhaust? I have to replace my convertor and am thinking of having the pipe replaced at the same time. Any noise issues at all? I have straight pipe from the cat-back on the Ty now. I know with a Sy interior noise isn't going to be as bad as a Ty will.

Well, that sounds fun. Guess it kinda shoots that idea down.

BW, I think I am getting some lowering blocks this weekend

uhhhh...no you cant

totally different pieces

on a Sy or a Ty, the moulding goes around the wheel arches. On a GT, this doesnt happen.

Dave,

I got a set of Bell Tech 2" blocks I'm not gonna use if you need some (went 3" drop leaves)

Also, the side exit I saw went through the frame, I will send you the pics if I come across them.

Someone else said they were gonna try going through the front half of the leaf spring.
Dunno if 3" will fit through there.

Just get the ATR and don't ever worry about it again.

It can be done without cutting!! Don't do that! Have you ever seen a Winston cup exhaust? Or a tail pipe exit on an Open wheel Indy type car? They are very thin in height (1 1/2 tall or so) The pipe can be fabricated to be very small (section wise) tall but can be wide to make up for the difference to give you the same volume. This allows the pipe to be routed in very restrictive clearance areas. This type of exhaust fab is not typically done at the local exhaust shops though. You have to go to someone who can fabricate this piece for you. Can be a bit pricey but the results are very nice. Exhaust exit where you want it without it hanging on the ground.

I just ran twin cats (off IROC Cameros from junk yard $20.00 each), twin turbo mufflers ($15.00 each from Auto Zone), and an elbo off of each ($7.00 AZ) dumping out in front of the rear tires. Having true dual exhaust with no cross over underneath is a bit wierd though. It's like they take turns putting, left, right, left, right... Da, da, da... Yeah I know, with 2 1/2 inch pipes going under the torsion bars like that they are right on the ground. Yeah, they scrape sometimes, but hey, it was so cheap who cares! i was gonna rout them through the frame and I still might, when I monster notch for the axle it drop another 8 inches with the air dumped!

I will soon. I want to document the transformation of my $300.00 '89 GMC 4.3 4X4 with 117,000 mi when I got it with servere front end damage, into what may be the fastest Tyclone out there when I'm done. Right now it's still in primer, but I have the whole thing shaved as smooth as Stone Cold's dome. Body line, roof rack, tail gate and door key holes and latches, rear lights, gas door, roof weld seams, they're all gone. I'm attempting to repair a US Parts Unlimmited 1 piece nose. It may not work out. The cladding I scored could be in better condition, but I'm in the market for a full carbon fiber set. Rims will be 18" Z06 replicas. My dream drive tain will be a twin turbo LT1, I'll probally go with a Jet build AWD gearbox and tranny, and 8.5" limited front and posi rear with 4.11 gears, a ZQ8 panhard shock set up, and 14" discs all the way around. I don't really want it to be that fast, 0-60 under 5 sec is my only goal. After 65MPH who cares, you allready won by that point! I just want to make sure it can stop that fast also!

pretty cool goals there. Thank god that you care about the breaks too. If I were you I would go with AL's suspension setup because I have heard that his kid is killer.
