shiftin' blues

Does anyone know why my 700 does not downshift when I floor it? I have adjusted the tv cable several times and noticed changes in shift points but for whatever reason this thing won't do a forced downshift. I can be going up a hill at 20 mph in drive and the thing won't downshift to 2nd regardless of throttle position.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS This trans is just a regular 2wd 700 and will probably need to be upgraded to Syclone specs. Who does this close to St. Louis area?

sounds as if the TV valve might be sticking. how does it shift when upshfting? anything else it does funny? is the truck completly stock or what?

???? why would this be an issue if it downshifted behind a TBI 4.3? Really the only thing that is different is that I now have a Syclone engine, stall, and tv cable.

the rate of change on the TV shaft on the syty TB is differnet than it is on the TBI motor. you generally have a higher advance rate on the syty unit.

gear ratio will also affect the way the governor acts in conjunction with the upshift and downshift valves.

jwaller,

Sorry about my misplaced reply earlier. To answer your first question: the trans is completly stock, the upshifts are pretty firm when cold and seem to be just right after everything has warmed up. Also, I do not think the lock up solonoid is functioning as it does nothing when I jump the terminals. I am getting some slippage on the 2-3 shift.
Also, truck has 3.08 gears and 245/50-16 (trying to recalibrate DRAC as we speak).
From your second post it sounds as if my problem is interal and a rebuild may be in my future. From what I have read on this board, it's not even worth it to take it to a shop that has no experience with them so I would be open to suggestions/recommendations......

Thanks!

well some ppl seem to think I offer a pretty good rebuild when you get ready.

But you should swap the governor bc you have changed the gearing and those 2 things are directly related.

if you have your tc sol wired properly then you prob have a stuck solinoid and could prob fic it with a new one but it's getting clogged for a reason and you might be needing a rebuild sooner than later.
