shift cable ls1

I need a little help. I picked up a ty with a 2000 ls1 engine and 4l60e trans in it. I have to redo everything. its 2wd for now, keeping it that way for now. For starters, the shift cable. I think it has the stock shifter and cable from the ty. I only get overdrive. It does not shift into the gear right for 3rd, 2nd and 1st. Reverse and park are ok, but a little off too. Can I just buy a stock ls1 shift cable, install and adjust? Or what? Has any one changed the shifter to a b&m or something, while keeping the center console. I like the idea of a reverse lockout. Any help would be appreciated thanks

I would try to adjust the stock cable, I would think the shifter arm would be in about the same place as a stock Ty. The other think I could see is if the drivetrain is further forward or back than the original, but this is doubtful it could have been moved much considering it is such a cramped fit.

Thanks for replying, yeah ill play with it a bit. The guy welded his own bracket and its off. I'll make anew bracket an start over. Thanks. Any info on changing shifter
