okay guys I just want to know if it is normal to be running at 2900 rpm's at 80mph in fourth gear and at 9in of vac. almost boosting. I want to know because if my tc is not locking up I need to go looking around to see if it is my speed sensor or a tc lockup sol. thanks any info will help.

I went all the way to BG's house in Chicago from Orlando at 80mph. I seem to remember like 2600 on the tach, but datamaster was reporting close to 2500. I do know that 90mph is 3k and 120mph is 4k...

Sounds to me like the TCC ain't doin' it's thang. BTW,

70mph = 21.6 mpg (leavin' BG's on a spare, headin' to Kentucky)
80mph = 19.25-19.75mpg (most of the trip)
90-120mph = 15mpg (tearin' up a Mustang for an hour through the I- 77/WV turnpike)

My truck cruises at 2000 at 60mph, 2200 at 70 mph, and 2400 at 80 mph. That's with a deeper breathing engine, stock size wheels/tires, and 9/11 converter locked up.

To verify the condition of your LU converter, get to a decent cruising speed (60-70), observe the tach, and tap the brake while maintaing constant pressure on the gas pedal. If the rpms jump a few hundred and die right back down, she's working. If not, it's time.....
