Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this rebuild kit:

It seems pretty complete, but I am not as expert trans guy, but I do know a little. I am thinking about just sending my trans to Waller, but I have a buddy that owns a local performance transmission shop, and he really wants to rebuild mine. I have no interest nor the money to do a 4L80E swap at this time, I just want a good, built trans for my medium fast truck. I assume I should be able to run mid 11's with the motor I have (420 hp and 545 tq on an all wheel chassis dyno). I already have a 2800 stall PI triple disc convertor that was recently rebuilt. My trans works now, but it seems to slip a little when I really shower down on it.

Dana knows his stuff and seems to sell good quality parts. I have bought a few items from him and would recommend him

The separator plate that is included will likely make the 1-2 shift a lot less harsh. He really pushes that point. Worth checking.

A lot of the parts are standard upgrades - beast sunshell/upgraded sprag etc.

What gear does it slip in? You might find you can upgrade the trans without spending $1000. Having a local friend is a plus! Good luck!

seems like second gear after the 1-2 shift. I would be willing to bet that I don't have the corvette servo after my last rebuild, as I discovered that the trans did not have the WOT shift TV sleeve in it.

That kit is more expensive than what you will need. Call Dana and he will fix you up with a kit. He is great to deal with.

I will call him, but I am thinking maybe I will try upgrading the 1-2 and 3-4 servo pistons and maybe do a pinless accumulator and see if that improves things. The trans has less than 5000 miles on it since a rebuild. I do have the beast sunshell, raybestos Z pack, and Sonnax .500 boost valve, whatever the Sonnax reverse/low valve is and the Sonnax TV sleeve. Just thinking out loud. That would be a lot cheaper, and I do have a lift to R&R the trans myself.

Isn't the main supplier for trans parts Sunnex or something like that?
Might be able to go direct to them?

I went ahead and pulled the trigger and bought this kit. Everything I have read tells me that this guy is a good fellow. I can R&R the trans myself, and prob. swap out labor from my trans buddy for engineering work. My total investment should be less than $1500. I will keep everyone posted on the results.

What stall did you go with? Which brand torque converter? Do post up when you get it done. I'd like to know how it turned out.

I am going to reuse my Precision Industries converter. It has a 2800 stall.

I just talked to Dana on the phone (the guy that owns the place), and after telling him about my truck, he told me that the kit I ordered was the best one for me. I will be reusing my Beast sunshell, so he is going to credit that part cost back to me. That credit should cover shipping. He seems like a nice guy, and I should have the kit by the end of next week. I will post results.
