Rear window rattle??

The rear window on my Ty rattles when I drive and I have heard that this is common. I tried wrapping duct tape around the u-bolt, but it only stops it for about two days. Is there a way to permanently fix this?

Here's a couple of solutions from LIST members;

I had this problem really bad for awhile. I lubed up everything, took the
tailgate apart and tightened everything, etc etc. To no avail. What I
found caused my squeak was the weather-stripping that goes around the whole
back opening. This weather-stripping pulls straight off(atleast mine does
:smile: ) Along the bottom edge I pulled it back and found tons of dirt/leaves
etc collected underneath it. I cleaned it up and used some lube on the
metal, then slipped it back on. The noise stays away for about 4 months for
me and then comes back. I just accept it as my cleaning duties. I'm
curious if this helps you, so let me know. Nic

Here's another from Daron;

Or, you could do what I do and take the plastic cover off the inside of the
tailgate and adjust the latch retaining mechanism. Toward the front and up a
bit ( with tailgate down) will snug the window down. Adjust in small
increments.
Don't forget those bolts that secure the window to the hinges. They
loosen/distort the hinge and need to be tightened once in a while.

I think that GMC/CHEVY should have thought about this a little more when they produced these damned trucks :smile:

I posted a while back about this as well, I came to one conclusion...

GET SOME SUBS AND HOOOK THEM UP TO A NICE AMP AND LET THEM RIP, Thus, you can't hear the window anymore :smile:
