Its time for me to change the posi unit in the rear its clunking on every shift now. it has some play at first but it done now. Those who have changed it what BRAND did you go with? i was considering the detroit locker brand. I installed one on a Impala ss and it was great no noises on turns or when you accellerate. its the same price as an eaton (around 400)

Re: rear posi unit

I don't care for lockers, myself. Always seem to make too much noise or make the inside tire "hop" in all the applications I've riden in.

I personally prefer the gear type diffs. The Zexel Torsen or the Detroit Tru-Trac would be the leading examples. They do a good job of splitting the torque without being violent (hoping / clicking / whatever).

But that's just my opinion.

thats what i meant sorry explained myself wrong. the tru-trac by detroit locker is what i installed. i was interested in it because it had gears, not clutches seemed to be the best for the price.

Re: rear posi unit

I bought a torsen unit out of a 2002 SS camaro from SLP. It was a direct bolt in and has served me well for the last 3 years.
