rear disc conversion ?

i went out to the junkyard and found a 2000 4dr gmc 4 wheel drive jimmy with the disc rear end still on it, question is this rear end wider then the one on my typhoon cause i could probably get it compelte at a good price.

2nd question is with the claiper backing plates on this 7.5 rear bolt up to the 7.5 on my ty?
if so im heading back to take the diff apart and pull out then plates and conversion parts.

Re: rear disc conversion ?

On the 1st Q: Check for zr4 RPO code or measure the axle.

#2: Not really, you will need to fabricate a spacer, as later axles are longer for Disc brakes then Drum brakes.

Re: rear disc conversion ?

axle will bolt in as long as the 4 door is a 4x4 truck the brakes will bolt on but the s-series disk stuff is expensive for parts compared to the ls1 stuff , get the complete parking brake cable and it will work on a ty

Re: rear disc conversion ?

ifs its a 4x4 diff no a 2wd diff is narrower a zr2 diff is wider this has been covered 487 times before

Re: rear disc conversion ?

so all i would need are the 1/4" spacers that throw out the backing plate so that the caliper and disc rotor can be in line correct? i have all of the parts from a 7.5 rear disc off a 2001 blazer 2wd all i will need is the spacers to make them work correct?
