Question about solid motor mounts and tranny removal

Just wondering. With stock motor mounts you can let the tranny hang down a bit to get access to the top bell housing bolts because the mounts are rubber right? So if you switch to solid mounts how do you get to the top bolts seeing as how the motor won't move?

yea i use box end wrench, sometimes a stubby wrench from the bottom and top

they shouldnt be very tight, 35lb/ft or so

race or get outta the way
motor mounts dont matter. just undo 2 body mounts on drivers side of cab, lift cab an inch or so and take bolts out. even the service manual says to do this.

Thanks guys. So i guess it's not that bad. How does the truck feel with solid mounts? Vibration?

did you get a solid tranny mount to match your motor mounts?

I've ridden in a sy w/ all solid - no vibrations out of the ordinary. His exhaust resonance tone was way louder - but i doubt thats really a factor of the mounts

no i didn't. Who sells them? Can i use a solid mount for the trans and not for the motor if i don't install my new engine right now?

You can, but most people match up the type of mount their using. The solid tranny mount may be slightly different size than the poly mount if i recall?
