Propshaft breaking?

Hey, has anyone heard of a stock propshaft giving way on applications with stock turbo, and boost under 18psi? J/C. I'm looking at buyinga stock shaft, in lieu of a Gilbert due to cost, and want some input on what you guys think? I figure I'll never get in to the 12's, and if I do, it will be high 12's. I just want a legitament mid to low 13 second truck. Will the stock propshaft hold up to that?

buy a gilbert instead. It's worth the extra $200. A stock propshaft can break at stock power levels - the boot tears and the grease is lost...thats the main killer of the stock shaft.

The cost of a Gilbert is negligable compared to the cost of repairing the damage caused by a stocker breaking.

I just drive my truck (read: NO RACING OR LAUNCHES) and I have a Gilbert sitting there to install when I get home.:2cents:

Unless your truck is on jackstands 24/7 a stocker WILL break, just a matter of when.

Stockers have been known to break for just looking at them the wrong way.:rotf:

It's not just the cost of replacing the stock shaft when it finally goes out on you that you should be concerned with... think about it snapping when your doing 55mph or higher.. that thing will swing around and take out all kinds of other stuff ie trans, transfercase, linkage, etc.. i've had four fail on me.. one was straight stock.. the other three were stock but beefed up and modified to hold or so I was told.. get the gilbert it's work the piece of mind in my opinion

I didnt even hit 20 mph and my prop was bouncing off the ground sparking and bouncing off my oil pan. Got lucky and nothing broke, but I just got a driveshaft and propshaft loop for her so she doesnt break anything else again when they do fly apart. :tup:
