propshaft boot kit?

I replaced the torn boot with a new kit. I put 4 spot welds on the cup in line with the bolts, I have noticed it slinging a small amount of grease and it looks like it is leaking from where the cup joins up - it's not leaking from the boot. I am wondering if welding a bead all the way around the cup will throw it out of balance - hence the reason I only put 4 spot welds on it to begin with. I've seen a couple that was welded all the way around, but figured I'd better check in before I weld on it anymore. The metal part of this boot kit is longer than the factory ones, the factory ones looked as if the end was just folded over. Any pointers would be appriciated, thanks in advance.

I hate to be the one to say it - but I've never known anyone to have any luck with the boot replacement.

Period.

remove the stock shaft and switch to a gilbert. I can hook you up if needed. boot kits dont work.

like factory bolt up might bt nice but I like the 4wd or gilbert style better. you dont put all the torque load on the bolts. you let the cups of the u joint take that load.
