polishing turbos?

i would imagine the whole unit gets unbearably hot as metal conducts heat very well...i would think that someonw would have done it by now, interesting concept though. I wish there were a solution to keep the DP looking really sharp though.

You can get coating for exhaust side, and downpipe, and you can polish the compressor side.

http://www.lo-ko.com does coatings that will stand up to that heat on the downpipe and exh housing, though it will not stand up too well on headers.

How much hotter do the headers get than the DP that it won't work on headers? i could imagine that both would be insanely hot.

I just had my headers coated with jet-hot...black oxide....they say it will withstand 2000 degrees...while I hope I wont EVER see 2k deg...I can report on it's longjevity in another few weeks when the trucks back together

Enough that the coating on the headers got crusty and flaked, and the exhaust housing and downpipe stayed shiny and beautiful.

That is referring to the Lo-Ko coating, as that's the only experience I have personally. I've heard the Jet Hot won't work on headers at all.. unless it's the rough black 2000 deg stuff. Not sure how any of the rest holds up on housing/downpipe. Anyways, my experience showed me the collectors on either side with the ATR headers were subject to the most heat.
