Plugging oil bypass

Has anyone ever plugged the oil bypass in the block?
How did you block it?
Did you remove the bypass assembly?
I don't want any unfiltered oil running through my motor the next go around.

Yep, did it on mine. My engine guy does it on all his chevy builds.

He removed the stock bypass spring/valve dealy and tapped the hole for a pipe plug. It works just fine. Just don't rev the hell outta your motor when the oil is cold and thick.

Ditto... or can shim the spring in the bypass to let less oil bypass the filter but still have a relief if the filter gets clogged, forget and go high RPM with the eng cool, etc.

What about the second bypass valve located in the oil filter adapter ?

I tossed that stock remote filter mount so that I could run the -an fittings.
But yes, there is one there also.

Well temps are fairly mild here and I'm not planning on any winter road trips soon or ever, so I should be safe.

What is the gain doing this ?
When the bypass opens the oil goes to the oil gallery , so its just unfiltered with good pressure and volume
Is there anything else that i am missing here ? i sure would like to know if you could ask your builder

I was cleaning out the bed of the truck when I found something exactly for this.
I bought it a long time ago and forgot that I had it:

All I have to do is taper the edge of the relief holder and push this guy in. Viola!
