? on shifter!!

Having trouble with my shifters in both trucks.....Sy doesnt want to lock into park when you shift into park and ty doesnt want to go into gear in drive until I pull a little farther down on the shifter ......do I need a adjustment or do I have some other problems?????

and how do i go about adjusting the shifter ????

you can adjust it a small amount with the bolt that attaches it to the shift arm on the trans, but usually those things mean the cable is about to break and would need replacement. but try adjusting it first and see what happens.
