Yeah, I remember that.
The original creator of that study got sued or threatened with legal action, so he got rid of all the important (damning) details.

Cool, that was interesting. Atleast it makes me feel justifed about spending $10 a pop on Mobil 1 filters.

Rick can you email me or post the juciest of the damning details? Did ACDelco fail anywhere? Thanks. Oh yeah if you have any dirt on FRAM I would get a big kick out of it!!

FRAM anything is shit.
Just look at the cardboard internals.

There was a thread on the list awhile back about a FRAM engineer who found their fuel filters to become a solid clog under high fuel pressures used in EFI cars, about everything today.

FRAM gets nothing from me but a big foot in the ass.

Interesting article...How about Bosch? They supplies plugs, injectors, filters et cetera for Porsche,Ferrari,BMW, Auidi... These cars are driven consistently 140mph + on the Autobahn...I don't believe all these performance carmakers would use Bosch products if they weren't top quality..I will continue to use Bosch oil filters in my Syclone(5 dollars each) unless someone can convince me otherwise...

He didn't have any failure data.
Just the facts about how the fancy packaging covers the hidden truth.

It's kinda like batteries.
There are really only a few major manufacturers. Then everyone else puts their name on it and decides on the how much to charge.
Obviously, this excludes some of the specialty batteries out there.

well i can no longer find Mobil-1 filters in seattle. they stop carrying it.

i hear that K&N is similar to the Mobil-1. so is this true?

i use UPF-52. the AC-delco ultraguard. i heard that is better than the regular PF-52.

velox03, you may want to obtain a stock of
the upf 52 filters as ac delco has the discon
certing habit of discontinuing products. they
just did with upf 59 which i used on the ls1
engine. they did not have much demand which was very obvious as ac delco did not adverti-
se them and the only place they were availab-
le was a gm dealer who would charge top dollar (approx $15.00. john.

jvanforx,

i get them at a local AC-Delco wholesale place. they say the retail is $20, but they will charge you $9 everytime. cuz it's a wholesale. anyhow, yea i know what you mean, everytime i go there they'll have 1 or 2 at hand.

do you think they are a good filter??

velox 03, i believe in using ac delco parts
for my gm cars unless another brand has shown to be better (e.g. kn air filters). i
think that the ac delco website has a techni
cal description and comparison of the upf's.
i order them now from genuine gm parts on the web (with shipping abt $8.00 each but you have to order 6). john.
