No speedo

Ok, finally I got my engine put back together and got er in place. I am currently having issues with the 50#er chip that I have been PM’ing to Phil Long about but I can not figure out no why I have no spedo and my transmission will not shift. Keep in mind that the tranny never cam out during the build (put in a new converter from the front side) and there are no physical loose connections at the transmission or at the white box attached to the ECM but there is one lone white wire with a skinny black female connector that is hanging loose. I believe that it should not be connected to anything but would like to make sure. Could the white box at the ECM be shot? What is the best way to trouble shoot?

Where is the long white wire hanging? Is it down under the truck or near the ECM?

if you want to trouble shoot the white box (DRAC) read this thread: http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=37633 do all the tests that I did.

the drac shouldnt have anything to do with the tranny not shifting. did you connect the TV cable to the throttle shaft after installing the motor?

Here is a pic of the "lone" white wire. And I just found a bone yard close by that has the "white box" (VSSB) attached to the ECM for $10.00. I will pick it up tomorrow to see if that is my problem, also I did adjust my cable and now I can only get it to shift from 1 to 2 but no drive or over drive. I believe that if there is no spedo signal there should be no idea on when to shift???

oh....that white wire goes up near the drivers side speaker and plugs into a connector; nothing related. Watch to make sure the DRAC is the same; not sure how much they differ from car to car, but once you get speedo signal, let us know and I can walk you through a DRAC recalibration.

Out of the DRAC, the light blue wire is the one that takes the speedo signal from the DRAC to the gauges. You don't happen to have any scan software like Datamaster, do you? If you did, checking to see if you have MPH signal on the software would tell you where the issue is.

Unfortunately I do not have datamaster yet. I guess that I should get my act together. I believe I saw a post recently with cables for sale. Any one know if they are still out there?

I'd price the software and cable purchase together versus the cable and software purchased separately; my software and cable combo was $200.
